Amplified Oatmeal

1/3 c rolled oats (not instant)

1.5 c water (or banana milk or other milk)

1 Tbsp ground Flaxseed meal

1/2 tsp cinnamon

⅛ tsp nutmeg

Pinch of ground cloves

salt (to taste…I like 3 pinches)

1 egg

Recommended Add-ins:

1/8 tsp Four Sigmatic 10 Mushroom Blend Mix

1/8 tsp Four Sigmatic Adaptogen Blend Mix

Mix-ins:

3 oz Blueberries, Strawberries, and or Blackberries

Half of a banana, sliced

1 Tbsp walnut pieces

1 Tbsp pecan pieces

Honey (optional)

In a large saucepan, bring water (or milk) and oats to a boil.  Once it reaches a boil, reduce to simmer and cook according to package directions, anywhere from 15-25 minutes.  Once the oats are softened and most of the water is absorbed, stir in flaxseed, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt to taste.  If adding Blend Mixes, stir them in one at a time to avoid clumping. Add water as needed and continue to cook until you reach creamy consistency, just a few more minutes. Whisk the egg. SLOWLY whisk the egg into the oatmeal, stirring for at least 2 minutes.  One the egg is thickened and cooked, add your mix-ins to the pan briefly to warm them up. If you like your oatmeal with a hint of sweetness, try drizzling with some honey.  (I have grown to prefer oatmeal savory). Serve and enjoy!
